Benefits
My first time traveling abroad alone.
Communicate with and be introduced to a new and diverse culture.
Shining as an undergraduate who presents his/her research work to other scholars.
having a strong and attractive highlight in your CV for joining the industry, or for securing graduate admission at top universities.
Challenges
Being a lonely undergraduate, having the least experience in the auditorium, while also presenting your work in front of a foreign expert audience. However, these challenges are what make the experience unforgivable, and extremely rewarding.
Conclusion
For an undergraduate participating in research, it is not a conventional engineering problem that you solve using what you learned during class work. However, it is a problem that you know almost nothing about beforehand! Your problem-solving skills undergo a rigorous test during this experience, from which you will learn a plentiful of invaluable lessons and skills. I think any student would have a once-in-a-lifetime experience if she/he conducted their first research, and had the chance to present at an international conference while being an undergrad.
